The signature section of this deed provides the names of David Beaver's heirs. ( This transaction began dated 22 August 1837, but apparently was not completed and filed until April 1838.) Registered Deed: Henry Beaver & Others to Samuel Hand Jr., Re: April 17 1838.These 10 living heirs are proven by a partition settlement: The 1820 Census (Ohio, Licking Co., Union Twp.) shows ten children (five males and five females).His widow, Anne Strickler, remarried. The inscription reads: "ten children are left to mourn his loss." A daughter, Lydia, died young and was buried in Licking Cemetery in 1810. He is listed as a founder of the Licking Baptist Church in 1808, suggesting the family was residing on the property by that time.ĭavid died in 1825 and his tombstone still stands (2020) in Licking Cemetery. He may not have moved his family to Licking County immediately. David Beaver and at least two of his brothers (Michael and Abraham) came to Ohio in the early 1800s and purchased property in both Licking County and Ross County. ![]()
